Former Vice President Joe Biden got into an altercation over gun rights with a Michigan auto worker at a campaign stop on Tuesday — an argument that ended with Biden threatening to “slap” the man and vowing to take away his “AR-14.”
The incident, captured on video, shows Biden getting extremely agitated during a casual question-and-answer session with line workers at a Michigan auto factory — members of a demographic Biden desperately needs to win over in order to make a play for the all-important battleground state.
The audio is shaky, but some of Biden’s words come through loud and clear.
WATCH: “You’re full of sh*t,” @JoeBiden tells a man who accused him of “actively trying to end our Second Amendment right.”
The worker accuses Biden of “actively trying to end our Second Amendment rights,” apparently referring to Biden’s decision to appoint former Congressman and failed presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke, who campaigned on gun confiscation, as his campaign’s lead on gun policy.
“You’re full of sh**!” Biden responds, getting in the man’s face.
“I support the 2nd Amendment,” he added, getting angry. “The 2nd Amendment, just like right now if you yell fire, that’s not free speech. I have a shotgun…my sons hunt. I’m not taking your guns away at all.”
When swine flu broke in 2009, social media was new and we didn’t have 24/7 news cycles reporting every new case. In the end, over 12,000 died. In general, people went about their lives and the virus ran it’s course. H1N1 is still around today.
US Coronavirus deaths so far: 22 Flu deaths so far: 12,000 Flu deaths last year: 34,000 Flu deaths 2017-18: 60,000
This is a serious virus but we’ve all seen too many ebola outbreak movies and the news is throwing gas on the flames of our fear.
Psalm 91 is my favorite psalm of protection. I pray it over myself and my family almost daily.
Say it out-loud, personalize it for you and your people. It is a powerful prayer that causes the enemy to tremble. I promise it will make you feel stronger.
None of us are promised even another day. Every breath is a blessing. God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a peaceful mind. Jesus tells us that in this world we WILL have trouble but to TAKE HEART because He has overcome the world.
Take precautions, be informed but also be encouraged. Have a blessed day.
When NASA was preparing for the Apollo project, some of the training of the astronauts took place on a Navajo reservation outside El Paso.
One day, a Navajo elder and his son were herding sheep and came across the space crew. The old man, who spoke only Navajo, asked a question that his son translated. “What are these guys in the big suits doing?”
A member of the crew said they were practicing for their trip to the moon. The old man got all excited and asked if he could send a message to the moon with the astronauts. Recognizing a promotional opportunity, the NASA folks found a tape recorder.
After the old man recorded his message, they asked his son to translate it. He refused. The NASA PR people brought the tape to the reservation, where the rest of the tribe listened and laughed, but refused to translate the elder’s message.
Finally, the NASA crew called in an official government translator. His translation of the old man’s message was: “Watch out for these guys; they have come to steal your land.”
He loved his job. Driving a train had been his dream ever since he was a child. He loved to make the train go as fast as possible. Unfortunately, one day he was a little too reckless and caused a crash. He made it out, but a single person died. Well, needless to say, he went to court over this incident. He was found guilty, and was sentenced to death by electrocution. When the day of the execution came, he requested a single taco as his last meal. After eating the taco, he was strapped into the electric chair. The switch was flown, sparks flew, and smoke filled the air – but nothing happened. The man was perfectly fine.
Well, at the time, there was an old Texas law that said a failed execution was a sign of divine intervention, so the man was allowed to go free. Somehow, he managed to get his old job back driving the train. Having not learned his lesson at all, he went right back to driving the train with reckless abandon. Once again, he caused a train to crash, this time killing two people. The trial went much the same as the first, resulting in a sentence of execution. For his final meal, the man requested two tacos. After eating them, he was strapped into the electric chair. The switch was thrown, sparks flew, smoke filled the room – and the man was once again unharmed.
Well, this of course meant that he was free to go. And once again, he somehow managed to get his old job back. To what should have been the surprise of no one, he crashed yet another train and killed three people. And so he once again found himself being sentenced to death. On the day of his execution, he requested his final meal: three more tacos.
“You know what? No,” said the executioner. “I’ve had it with you and your stupid tacos and walking out of here unharmed. I’m not giving you a thing to eat; we’re strapping you in and doing this now.” Well, it was against protocol, but the man was strapped in to the electric chair without a last meal. The switch was pulled, sparks flew, smoke filled the room – and the man was still unharmed. The executioner was speechless.
The man looked at the executioner and said, “Oh, the tacos had nothing to do with it. I’m just a bad conductor.”
I had COVID-19 and here is my story. I made this post public out of several requests from my friends who asked me to share. I hope it gives you some good information and peace of mind!
First how easily you can get it. I believe I caught it when attending a small house party at which no one was coughing, sneezing or otherwise displaying any symptoms of illness. It appears that 40% of the attendees of this party ended up sick. The media tells you to wash your hands and avoid anyone with symptoms. I did. There is no way to avoid catching this except avoiding all other humans. 40% of folks were all sick within 3 days of attending the party all with the same/similar symptoms including fever.
Second, the symptoms appear to be different depending on your constitution and/or age. Most of my friends who got it were in their late 40s to early 50s. I’m in my mid 30s. For us it was headache, fever (for first 3 days consistently and then on and off after 3 days), severe body aches and joint pain, and severe fatigue. I had a fever that spiked the first night to 103 degrees and eventually came down to 100 and then low grade 99.5. Some folks had diarrhea. I felt nauseous one day. Once the fever is gone some were left with nasal congestion, sore throat. Only a very few of us had a mild itchy cough. Very few had chest tightness or other respiratory symptoms. Total duration of illness was 10-16 days. The main issue is that without reporting a cough or trouble breathing many of us were refused testing. I got tested through the Seattle Flu Study. This is a RESEARCH study here in Seattle and they have been testing volunteers for strains of the flu to study transmission within the community. A few weeks ago, they started to test a random subset of samples for COVID-19 infection. They sent my sample to the King County Public Health Department for confirmation; however, I was told that all of the samples that have tested positive in the research study have been confirmed by Public Health.
As of Monday March 9th, it has been 13 days since my symptoms started and more than 72 hours since my fever subsided. The King County Public Health Department is recommending you stay isolated for 7 days after the start of symptoms or 72 hours after your fever subsides. I have surpassed both deadlines so I am no longer isolating myself however I am avoiding strenuous activity and large crowds and I obviously will not come near you if I see you in public. I was not hospitalized. Not every country is hospitalizing everyone with a COVID-19 infection and in my case, and in many other cases, I didn’t even go to the doctor because I was recovering on my own and felt it was just a nasty flu strain different from the ones I have been protected from with this season’s flu vaccine.
I also truly believe the lack of testing is leading to folks believing that they just have a cold or something else going out into public and spreading it. And worse folks with no symptoms are also spreading it as in the case of a person attending a party or social gathering who has no symptoms.
I know some folks are thinking that this can’t/won’t impact them. I hope it doesn’t but I believe that the overall lack of early and pervasive testing damaged the public’s ability to avoid the illness here in Seattle. All I know is that Seattle has been severely impacted and although I’m better now I would not wish this very uncomfortable illness on anyone.
One thing that I believe may have saved me from getting worse respiratory symptoms is the fact that I consistently took Sudafed, used Afrin nasal spray (3 sprays in each nostril, 3 days at a time and then 3 days off), and used a Neti pot (with purified water). This could have kept my sinuses clear and prevented the symptoms from spreading to my lungs. This is not medical advice: I’m simply sharing what I did and correlating it with the fact that I had no respiratory symptoms. The two could be entirely unrelated based on the viral strain and viral load that I received.
I hope this information helps someone avoid getting sick and/or push to get tested sooner rather than later so you know to isolate before it gets worse or to get medical care if you have respiratory distress. Hand washing doesn’t guarantee you won’t get sick, especially when folks without symptoms are contagious and could be standing right next to you in any given social situation. You more likely than not will not die, but do you want to risk spreading it to a loved one over 60 or someone with an immunity issue? Stay healthy folks!
People who face death from heart disease, as do I, don’t stock up on toilet paper and paper towels!
May I draw your attention to the eighth leading cause of death in the US – the flu and pneumonia. What? Should we shut down the airlines? Dry dock the cruise ships? Oh, please CNN and MSNBC, tell us what we must do and how the President is responsible for all these deaths.
You who are hoarding toilet paper, may I have your attention for a moment or two? While you were fearfully wringing your hands over the last 24 hours, approximately 3,400 Americans died of first two leading causes of deaths and their deaths didn’t make even one headline.
There are two kinds of fear – rational and irrational.
The fear of God is a healthy fear. Irrational fear is never healthy.
Conspiracy theorists are claiming on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media outlets that it is possible to “cure” coronavirus (COVID-19) by drinking bleach. This is simply not true, and could be deadly advice.
Please make sure that any teens or millennials in your sphere of influence know this.
The claim that bleach will cure coronavirus isn’t the only false claim. Some are claiming marijuana use cures it, while others claim that sexual activity is also a cure.
Some are more dangerous than others.
However, one thing is clear. Drinking bleach may ensure that you don’t die of coronavirus, but you will probably die from drinking bleach.
The former pastor of a Houston church allegedly stole more than $200,000 from his congregation, according to a report.
Toddrick Deshaun Johnson, 36, has been charged with theft and using deception to secure an executive document relating to stolen parishioner funds from Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, according to court documents obtained by the Houston Chronicle.
Johnson, who was hired in 2017, forged the church president’s signature in financial documents and then stashed $201,552 into a secret account, board members alleged in court papers.
The hidden funds went undiscovered until a financial audit in 2018, the newspaper reports.
Johnson then left the church when he was confronted about the missing money and is “no longer returning calls,” court documents show.
Johnson, of Alvin, filed for bankruptcy last month, according to federal court records cited by the newspaper that indicated he has more than $40,000 in student loan debt.
The church’s board president, identified in court papers as Raymond Williams, told investigators he didn’t authorize Johnson or anyone else to open the account in his name, the newspaper reports.
Johnson also “obtained loans and filed false insurance claims” to deposit funds into the account, Williams told police.
The former pastor had not been arrested as of midday Monday, a Houston police spokesman told The Post.
Church officials, meanwhile, could not be reached early Monday to discuss the accusations.
An economics professor at a local college made a statement that she had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on this plan”. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A…. (substituting grades for dollars – something closer to home and more readily understood by all).
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great , but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
These are possibly the 5 best sentences you’ll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.
Physician David Drew Pinsky, commonly referred to as Dr. Drew, slammed the media in a CBS News interview late last week, saying that it is responsible for causing the American public to panic, which is hurting businesses and people.
“A bad flu season is 80,000 dead, we’ve got about 18,000 dead from influenza this year, we have a hundred from corona,” Dr. Drew said. “Which should you be worried about, influenza or Corona? A hundred versus 18,000? It’s not a trick question. And look, everything that’s going on with the New York cleaning the subways and everyone using Clorox wipes and get your flu shot, which should be the other message, that’s good. That’s a good thing, so I have no problem with the behaviors.”
“What I have a problem with is the panic and the fact that businesses are getting destroyed, that people’s lives are being upended, not by the virus, but by the panic,” Dr. Drew continued. “The panic must stop. And the press, they really somehow need to be held accountable because they are hurting people.”
CBS NEWS: “So you’ve seen pandemics over the decades, how does this one compare with everything?”
DR. DREW: “A bad flu season is 80,000 dead, we’ve got about 18,000 dead from influenza this year, we have a hundred from corona. Which should you be worried about influenza or Corona? A hundred versus 18,000? It’s not a trick question. And look, everything that’s going on with the New York cleaning the subways and everyone using Clorox wipes and get your flu shot, which should be the other message, that’s good. That’s a good thing, so I have no problem with the behaviors. What I have a problem with is the panic and the fact that businesses are getting destroyed that people’s lives are being upended, not by the virus, but by the panic. The panic must stop. And the press, they really somehow need to be held accountable because they are hurting people.”
CBS NEWS: “So, where do you think the panic started? Besides the press, like what was the impetus in terms of mass hysteria?”
DR. DREW: “I saw it, there’s a footage of me on a show called The Daily Blast Live a month ago, going ‘shouldn’t we be scared about this?’ and me going ‘no, there’s gonna be as potential for panic here, shut up everybody, stop talking about it, I could see the panic brewing, and I could just see it the way the innuendo and the every opportunity for drama by the press was twisted in that direction. Let me give you an example: so the World Health Organization is out now saying the fatality rate from the virus is 3.4%, right? Every publication from the WHO says 3.4% and we expect it to fall dramatically once we understand the full extent of the illness. No one ever reports the actual statement. We go 3.4% that’s 10 times more than the, whatever five times more than the flu virus and yeah it’s gonna be a little more [than the] flu probably. Still not a bad flu season.”
CBS NEWS: “Right, we’re gonna hear about more cases, more people died.”
DR. DREW: “There are probably several people in this building that probably have it and don’t know it.”
CBS NEWS: “Right, well it was also just the process of letting the public know, the stock market, the number of tests that were available, there was so much happening, I think people were freaking out as a result of that.”
DR. DREW: “I think there was it was a concerted effort by the press to capture your eyes and in doing so they did it by inducing panic. There’s, listen, the CDC and the WHO, they know what they are doing, they contain pandemics, that’s how they know how to do it, they’re doing an amazing job.”
CBS NEWS: “What about the global implications of this because we were talking off-camera about Italy, there’s China as well, there’s some little outbreaks where you should avoid.
DR. DREW: “There are, I would look out where there flus out breaking bad to. I ended up getting the bird flu, I got H1N1 and it was horrible. It was no fun. … There’s certain things having been a physician for almost forty years, there are certain things I just know … and there’s certain things I just know by virtue of all the experience I’ve had and so when I saw this one coming, the corona, I thought I know how this is gonna go, I see kind of what it is and then I saw the excessive reaction the press, so I have to respond and then people, the weird part on social media towards me as people are angry with me, angry with me for trying to get them to see reality and calm down.”
